Frequently Asked Questions

Cancellation / Amendments

We totally understand that life can get hectic, but to keep things running smoothly for everyone, here’s our cancellation policy:

We request that any cancellations or amendments to your appointment be made at least 48 hours before your scheduled appointment time. Any cancellations within this timeframe will result in the loss of any deposit paid. If you miss your appointment entirely we reserve the right to charge you in full. *

Color and hair treatment appointments; Colouring and hair treatments require careful preparation and scheduling, so cancellations and missed appointments can significantly affect our ability to serve other clients. Therefore, we ask for your understanding that the value total of the appointment will be chargeable for any missed or cancelled appointments within 24 hours of your appointment time. *

* In any case, if you’re unable to attend and we’re able to fill the slot with another appointment of equal or higher value, we’ll give you partial or full credit to use the next time you’re in the Salon.

We want to ensure fairness for all our clients, so we’ll do our best to accommodate and make it fair for everyone involved. We really appreciate your understanding and cooperation in helping us maintain our appointment schedule.

Disabled Access

We are committed to being as accessible to all clients and visitors as possible and are delighted that we are an entirely ground-floor Salon.

Wheelchair users of all sizes are generally able to access all public areas of the Salon, including the bathroom. The bathroom however is limited in size and may be unable to accommodate wheelchair users due to an inward opening door and limited support mechanisms.

Please do let us know if you use a wheelchair, have limited mobility or require extra assistance at the Salon so we can be on hand when you arrive to look after you.

Transport

The Salon is roughly in the middle of Leith Walk and as such, very accessible by bus.

At present the closest bus stop is serviced by Lothian Bus services: 7, 14, 16,25, 49 and full travel information can be found on: www.lothianbuses.com

Parking

Parking spaces are available on side streets close to the Salon, the closest being Dalmeny Street and Iona Street. These are metered but if you fancy a brisk 5 minute walk, you can park at St Claire St without charge.

Clients getting dropped off or with reduced mobility may be able to stop in the loading bay, directly outside the Salon on Leith Walk.

Discounts

We offer 5% discount on all treatments and services for eligible Blue Light Card holders who present this at time of booking or payment – by way of thanks for incredible the work you do!

Dogs

We welcome cuddly, well-behaved dogs. Sorry – no wolves, growlers or barkers.

Let us know in the comments section of your booking if you’re bringing a furry friend! 🙂

Hair Colouring / Reaction Testing

The purpose of a patch test is to identify any potential allergic reactions to the hair dye or its components.

In the UK, patch tests for hair colorants are legally required under the Cosmetic Products (Safety) Regulations 2008. These regulations mandate that a patch test must be carried out at least 48 hours before a hair color treatment, even if the client has previously had the same treatment.

Clients having hair colouring treatments regularly and have not experienced any adverse reactions in the past can waive patch test requirement after an initial successful test. We may request an additional patch test for significant colour, chemical or product changes and we may also ask you to sign a waiver.

Young Clients

Indigo warmly welcomes clients of all ages, prioritising your safety and well-being with our thoughtful policies in respect of young clients:

  • Hair coloring services and beauty treatments involving chemicals or tints are available exclusively to clients aged 16 and over.

  • Intimate beauty treatments are reserved for females aged 18 years and above.

  • For clients aged 15 years or younger, we may kindly request parental permission before proceeding with any service or treatment.

Additionally, if you’re fortunate enough to retain a youthful appearance, we may ask for identification to ensure compliance with our policies.
