waxing

Indigo recommends the following aftercare advice during the 24 hours after any waxing treatment:

 – No hot baths or showers
 – No sauna’s, hot tubs, massage or steam treatments
 – No tanning (sunbathing, sun beds or fake tans)
 – Wear clean, loose fitting clothes
 – Avoid swimming in chlorinated pools
 – Avoid deodorants, body sprays, powders, lotions or other products to the area, other than those recommended by your therapist.

To soothe and protect the skin, apply an antiseptic cream to the waxed area regularly for 3 days following your treatment. Always wash your hands before applying any product. To prevent ingrown hairs: starting a few days after your appointment and then continuing a couple of times every week, exfoliate the areas you get waxed using a dry brush or exfoliating mitt. Take the brush and just before you step into the bath or shower gently brush the area you get waxed whilst your skin and the brush is dry.

After you’ve bathed/showered, apply some baby oil or E45 lotion to the waxed area.

Moisturise every day to keep the skin supple and help new hairs to grow through normally. Don’t exfoliate too much or too rough as this can graze the skin and cause ingrown hairs.

You may notice a small amount of re growth after a week or so. It can take up to 4 treatments for your hair to get on a growth cycle that gives best results.

You will need at least 3-4 weeks growth of hair before it can be successfully removed by waxing;

Please do not shave between your appointments.

To maintain your smooth appearance, Indigo recommends regular waxing every 4-6 weeks.

manicure nails

  • Keeping nail enhancements immaculate can be easily done by following our aftercare advise.
  • Be extra careful when wearing nail enhancements.
  • Be careful with car door handles, use a spoon to open cans/ring pulls.
  • Knocking your nails can damage or tear off gel/acrylics, which can be painful and drastically affect the health of your nails. Acrylic or gel nails should not damage the natural nail, unless they are pulled off, therefore it is vital to the health of your nails not to do anything too strenuous.
  • You should be extra gentle with your gel/acrylic nails for the first 24-48 hours after they are applied. Although the material used dries in minutes, they are not very strong until the bonding process has been completed. Avoid hot baths/hot-tubs for the first 48 hours as wet heat can weaken and make the nails lift.
  • Wash hands immediately after swimming and hot tubs to remove the chlorine which can weaken the nails and fade polish colours.
  • Always gloves for cleaning and gardening work. Strong detergents such as bleach and cleaning products can discolour the nails.
  • Oxygen can hinder the speed of the drying process so by using a cuticle oil, you help seal the nails, speeding up the curing process.
  • Use a cuticle oil daily as moisturising your nails will encourage healthy nail growth.
  • Only use a salon to remove your nails. Removing your nail enhancements at home will certainly damage your natural nail.
  • Avoid moisturisers, sun cream or tanning products which contain Lanolin or Mineral Oil. These will cause Acrylics to weaken and ‘lift’. Wear gloves for applying tanning lotion.
  • If there are any signs of lifting or damage to the nails it is important to contact the salon as soon as possible. Water and bacteria can accumulate under lifted nails.
  • Regular maintenance of infills or professional removal is essential to keep the nail enhancements and natural nails looking immaculate.
  • Finally, take care of your nails.

pedicure

Indigo recommends the following after any Pedicure treatment:

Wash feet daily and dry thoroughly

  • Use a foot powder if your feet sweat
  • Avoid wearing tight fitting shoes, tights or socks too often, allow the feet to breathe.
  • Use a pumice or exfoliant on your feet weekly to keep hard skin under control
  • Regular use of a moisturising heel balm (such as Flexitol available at Boots/Superdrug) will keep your heel skin supple.
  • Use moisturising lotion on the feet and legs to keep skin soft and to improve circulation.
  • Cut and file nails straight across and keep them at a sensible but do not use metal files.
  • Use a cuticle oil daily as moisturising your nails will encourage healthy nail growth. Follow our tips on nail enhancements to keep gel colours and acrylic toes healthy

spray tan

Within 8 hours of Spray Tan:

  • Stay away from water. Do not engage in the washing of feet or hands immediately after the session. Stay away from activities that make you sweat – gym, swimming and running.
  • Use dark, baggy and loose clothing.
Showering (the following day):
  • Wash off tan with a light, natural shower gel. Use gentle circular motions and avoid abrasive sponges
  • Pat skin dry, not rub, using a soft fluffy towel
  • Apply light moisturisers

Subsequent days:

  • Moisturise daily to keep skin hydrated and ensure long lasting results

Remember, spray tan gives you no protection from the sun. Ensure you use the appropriate protection when sunbathing.
